Park History
Phase I - Est. 1965
Joint initiative of the University of New Mexico and the Albuquerque Industrial Development Service Initially housed defense contractors until they were scaled back in the mid 1970s.
Phase II - Revived 1988
New interest in Science & Technology Parks nationwide Private developers commenced development of 42 acres in concert with UNM Market conditions did not support implementation of the master plan.
Phase III - Mid 1990s
University leadership guided new development
STC.UNM was created and funded by UNM to:
- Commercialize new technology
- Manage Park real estate requirements
- Start-up companies became the focus of marketing efforts
- Corporate presence was established with the addition of Lockheed Martin
Phase IV - 2003
- STC.UNM continues to act as the commercialization arm
- Property Management and Park development shifted to the University Real Estate Department
Master Plan 2010
Development focus includes:
- Amenities
- Hotels
- Restaurants
- Housing
- Development & Research Buildings
